Rodney Davis at Old World Audio in Los Angeles, CA, constructed a custom rack of 16 channels of delicious preamps for our studio.  The raw modules were removed from a vintage Yamaha PM1000 board and completely modified including input and output transformer upgrades (Altran, St. Ives), recapping, EQ tweaks, and more.  The project, from conceptualizing to building and delivering it, took almost a year to complete.  The rack which has a retro golden tint finish -- hence her name "Amber" -- was well worth the wait.  The preamps are fully discrete, class A, with transfomer balanced ins and outs, and inductor EQs on every channel.  This custom rack truly exceeded our expectations and it's great to have a piece of gear which no other studio has.  Amber has an amazing rich and detailed sound which has been used to track almost everything since we received her less than a year ago.
